Every day at Laughing Fox begins with the sun and ends with soil under the nails. Ray tends the gardens with a farmer’s precision and an artist’s eye, while Ruu brings her creativity to their handcrafted offerings—infused oils, salves, teas, and more.

Tucked beside the peaceful waters of Spring Lake Road in Upper Red Hook, NY, Laughing Fox Farm is more than a farm—it's a soulful homestead where life unfolds in harmony with the land.
Lovingly run by Ray Silverman and his wife, Ruu, the farm is home not just to rows of herbs, vegetables, and flowers, but also to two dogs, two cats, and eight delightfully curious chickens.
Together, Ray and Ruu cultivate the land with care and intention, growing and foraging the ingredients they use to create small-batch, all-natural products.

Whether through compost collection, farm stand offerings, or simply a warm conversation at the gate, their mission is to nurture both the land and the local community.
Leading Local Composting
Ray also leads the community composting program he took over from The O Zone HV, extending the farm’s commitment to sustainability far beyond its borders.
Through a subscription-based service, he collects food scraps from households and businesses across the region—transforming waste into nutrient-rich compost.
Each spring, subscribers receive a share of this finished compost to nourish their own gardens, or they can choose to donate it to local growing efforts.
