Community Compost
Sustainable. Simple. Local.
We make composting easy by offering convenient food scrap pickup right from your home, business, or community organization.
Food waste doesn’t belong in landfills—and composting is one of the easiest ways to make a real difference.
40% of food in the U.S. goes uneaten—about 20 pounds per person each month.
At UCRRA in Kingston, 15 trucks of waste head to landfills every day.
In landfills, food waste releases methane—a greenhouse gas 25x more potent than CO₂.
Cutting food waste is equivalent to removing one in five cars from the road.
When you compost, your scraps become soil—not pollution.
What Composting Can Do
Healthy soil. Healthier gardens. A healthier planet.
Compost isn’t just good for the earth—it’s good for your plants, too.
Feeds the soil
Full of nutrients and beneficial microbes, compost restores soil health and vitality.
Strengthens plants
Nutrient-rich compost helps your garden grow stronger and more resilient.
Reduces chemicals
Skip the synthetic fertilizers—compost nourishes naturally.
Conserves water
Compost improves soil structure and water retention, so your plants stay hydrated longer.
Fights climate change
Diverting food from landfills cuts methane emissions—one of the most effective climate actions you can take.
Scraps turn into soil
All food waste is transported to a licensed industrial composting facility, where it’s turned into nutrient-rich compost used to support regenerative farms, gardens, and green spaces.
